AutoHunter Spotlight: 1993 GMC Yukon SLE 4 × 4

Featured on AutoHunter, the on-line auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, is this 1993 GMC Yukon SLE 4 × 4 5-Speed.

Some GMC trucks in the 1990s were marketed under the motto “The Strength of Experience.” In order to recognize that experience, we will dive a little much deeper into GMC’s history. But in the meanwhile, when was the last time you saw a Tahoe or a Yukon with a clutch pedal? The “Manual Gearbox Preservation Society” would truly get a kick out of this unusual, low-mileage, 5-speed hand-operated Yukon. It is being used by a personal vendor in Osceola, Wisconsin, and the auction will end on Tuesday.

GMC’s beginnings can be mapped back to 1900 when 2 brothers formed the Grabowsky Motor Company. Within 10 years, that entity had undergone a possession adjustment and became a subsidiary of General Motors Company. Beginning in 1920, GMC pickups shared the very same system as Chevrolet pick-ups, and in order to develop a distinction between both, GMC versions were marketed to industrial buyers, while Chevrolet targeted exclusive proprietors.

The Yukon seen today rode on the General Motors GMT400 full-sized pick-up system and released in late 1991 for the 1992 design year. It was offered only in a two-door body design, yet 3 years later, a four-door signed up with the schedule. The timing was right: The sport-utility scene was heating up, many thanks to brand-new entrants like the Ford Explorer which were intended squarely at the preferred Jeep Cherokee. General Motors provided the Chevrolet S-10 Blazer to complete in that smaller sized section, but also for buyers who needed something a little more heavy-duty, the Tahoe and Yukon hit the spot.

Finished in Dark Garnet Metallic, the highlighted Yukon shows just 86,000 miles on the odometer and comes with a clean CARFAX record. There are a few subtle modifications worth stating, consisting of a set of aftermarket 16-inch wheels, General Grabber tires, a customized guiding wheel, and a twin exhaust system with chrome electrical outlets. Power comes from a 5.7-liter V8 that was rated at 210 horse power and 300 lb-ft of torque.

There is something else I love regarding this Yukon besides its transmission: As the window sticker label states, “Power locks and windows not wanted.” Therefore, manual-crank home windows were optioned. That arrangement– despite the fact that stripped-down in nature– makes the lorry even more distinct. What is your favored thing about this Yukon? One point is for sure, also at 31 years old, it is still conveying GMC’s “Strength of Experience” confidently!
